Martha Wainwright is one of the world most vibrant singer-songwriters and for those who only know her through her duet with Gary Lightbody on Snow Patrol Set The Fire To The Third Bar this gig provides an electrifying introduction to her playful, touching and raw music. In her short career so far she has made music with The Who Pete Townshend, Damon Albarn Africa Express, brother Rufus, mother Kate McGarrigle, father Loudon Wainwright III and Emmylou Harris. She has covered Leonard Cohen songs for the film I'm Your Fan, performed Bertold Brecht and Kurt Weill Seven Deadly Sins with the Royal Ballet Company, and sang Pink Floyd See Emily Play with her mother at a Syd Barrett tribute. With reflections of Kate Bush and Tori Amos, her expressive, characterful voice has never been so beautiful as it is on her recently released second album I Know You're Married But I've Got Feelings Too. It swoops, soars and settles as strings, brass and woodwind circle her words, something widescreen and wondrous, mature and intense, heartfelt and hungry, it is the work of an artist at the top of her game.
