The Schenectady Hibernians are combining with the Arts Night to acquaint the community with the Celtic music, food, and culture with live music, pipers, dancers and more.
The Schenectady Ancient Order of Hibernians, JFK Div. 1 is hosting the Celtic Faire – A Celebration of the Seven Nations, to be held from 5:00PM until 9:00PM on Friday, June 20, 2008. The Faire is being held in conjunction with Schenectady’s Arts Night, an event that focuses on the thriving art, music and cultural scene in Schenectady. The Faire is designed to acquaint the Arts Night attendees with Celtic food, music, culture, and heritage.
The Faire will be located on the Jay Street Pedestrian Mall from State Street to City Hall in Downtown Schenectady. Music stages at each end of the Mall will feature local Celtic bands Flynn 529 and Who’s Your Paddy? Performances by the Schenectady Pipe Band and step dancers from Farrel’s School of Dance will round out the entertainment. Food and craft vendors will be available.
There will be a Bonnie Knees contest. To enter your knees, sign up at Lennon’s Irish Shop on Jay Street.
The highlight of the evening will be the drawing for the grand prize in the Faire raffle, a trip for two to Ireland. Tickets available at the Hibernian Hall or Lennon’s Irish Shop.
